Is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago School of Law where she has served as an Adjunct Professor since 2006. While at Loyola University of Chicago School of Law, she was a Senior Editor of the Children's Legal Rights Journal. She has been a member of Drunken Driving Defense Lawyers of IL, Ltd. for eight years, where she specializes in DUI and criminal defense. Ms. Toney received a Bachelors of Science from Miami University in 2000.
Ms. Toney is an experienced trial lawyer who has tried Reckless Homicide as well as felony and misdemeanor DUI cases. She has successfully completed training in DUI detection and Field Sobriety Testing administered by Robert La Pier, a former State Trooper responsible for training police officers in DUI detection and field sobriety testing. She has been recognized for her efforts in defending people accused of driving under the influence by the National College for DUI Defense. In addition, she has attended two sessions at Harvard Law School relating to defending DUIs.
Ms. Toney was appointed to the Illinois State Bar Association’s Traffic Laws and Courts Committee in 2008 where she has also served as Editor of the newsletter. She has published articles for the American Bar Association Journal Report, and also for the International Bar Association. She is admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and the United States District Court, Northern and Central Districts of Illinois. She is a member of the National College for DUI Defense, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Illinois State Bar Association.
