Jacalyn Friedman Birnbaum, a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, has practiced domestic relations law since 1992, with particular emphasis on the representation of children.

Last spring, Ms. Birnbaum appeared in a Child Representative Seminar entitled "Representing Children: Reconciling Reality With The Rules." Her seminar materials were specifically requested for inclusion in the presentation made at the 2002 Annual Meeting of the American Bar Association by Judge Moshe Jacobius, the presiding Judge of the Domestic Relations Division of the Circuit Court of Illinois.

Ms. Birnbaum serves on the Board of Managers of the Illinois Chapter of the Academy and has served as an Advisory Member of the Family Law Section Council of the Illinois State Bar Association. Ms. Birnbaum, who testified before the Judiciary Committees of both the Illinois House and Senate in connection with the passage and enactment of Section 604.5 of the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act, also appeared as a credentialed witness before the Illinois Senate Committee on Divorce Law and Procedure.

Ms. Birnbaum received her undergraduate degree from George Washington University, Washington, D.C. in 1972 and her Juris Doctor from DePaul University Law School in 1992. A member of the Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association and American Bar Association, Ms. Birnbaum publishes and lectures on family law matters.
