The Chicago Tax Department offers a full range of tax controversy, counseling, benefits and compensation work and supports our transactional practice. We regularly work with developers and investors of renewable energy projects (including wind farms, biomass and geothermal plants and solar projects), and are well versed in the significant tax benefits for the investors.

Doug Bacon has worked in the insolvency arena for twenty-six years representing secured lenders, debtors, creditors' committees and asset purchasers in bankruptcies and insolvency situations across a variety of industries.

Mr. Bacon is listed as a leading Chicago bankruptcy lawyer in Chambers USA - America's Leading Business Lawyers. He was named as one of the leading Bankruptcy/Restructuring lawyers in the Illinois market by Chambers and Partners in its 2008 Global Directory and has been identified as an "Outstanding Bankruptcy Lawyer" by Turnarounds and Workouts .

Mr. Bacon has extensive experience in real estate workouts and bankruptcies, having represented secured lenders and owners in real estate workouts and bankruptcies involving hotels, office buildings, shopping centers, apartment complexes, nursing homes, hospitals and residential developments.

Mr. Bacon has been board certified in business bankruptcy law by the American Bankruptcy Board of Certification since 1994. He is licensed to practice law in Illinois, New York and Texas.

Mr. Bacon has represented parties with a central role in contested matters before over fifty bankruptcy judges in forty judicial districts around the country.
